Why hire a doula?

Whether you’re preparing to have a baby, are already pregnant, or  have a new little one in the house, having  a doula can be beneficial. The American Pregnancy Association and Evidence Based Birth both state the following benefits for having a birth doula during labor:

  • 50% decrease in Cesarean rate
  • 40% decrease in the use of Pitocin
  • 25% shorter labors
  • 60% fewer epidurals requested
  • 40% reduction in the use of forceps
  • 30% less request for pain relief

When God gives you something you don’t want….

Has there ever been a time in your life when you received something you didn’t want? It could be something as simple as an unwanted toy as a child, or an invitation to an event, or maybe someone asked you on a date and you didn’t want to go… If you are at all human, which I suspect you are :), then one of these things has to apply or resonate with you somehow. A letter to my pre-teen son

To my oldest little boy turning 12 years old,

You were my surprise. I didn’t know I was pregnant with you until around month 4, and wow, I was blown away. I was so excited I was going to be a mommy.
